Podden Livslångt: Without purpose, students fall by the wayside – that's why schools must be renewed

“It’s graduation season and, alongside the bloom of flowers, teachers and students are exhaling and longing for summer break. Yet another school year has come to an end. Planning awaits for the next one. But can schools continue as before? Are they equipping students with what they need? With what society needs?”

Meet Lotta Fransson and Micke Kring at RISE, who both work on lifelong learning aimed at schools. Hear them talk about how more and more students either don’t want to or can’t go to school, don’t feel they’re learning in a meaningful context, and don’t understand the purpose of what that is to be learned. In a working life that cries out for skills, that doesn’t rely on schools to provide them. About matrices and knowledge requirements, regulations and everything that belongs to an institution, but which risks slowing the very innovation society needs. Episode 118 is a conversation about the school’s need for renewal and about how there are principals trying to create different conditions and competencies for the future. Participants are Lotta Fransson and Micke Kring at RISE. The host is Katarina Pietrzak and the producer is Sandra Löv.
